Wheel Spinner

Paste your names, prizes or dinner options, hit spin and let the animated wheel pick a fair random winner — right in your browser.

What can you use the Wheel Spinner for?

The wheel spinner turns any list into an instant, animated random pick. Type your options, spin, and the wheel slows down under the pointer to land on one winner. It is completely free, requires no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is ever uploaded.

  • Classroom picks: teachers load their class list and spin to choose a student to answer, present or lead the next activity. It feels fairer (and far more fun) than pointing at a name, and "remove winner after spin" makes sure everyone gets a turn.
  • Raffles and giveaways: paste the entrants from your giveaway, stream or community event and spin for a transparent winner you can share on screen.
  • Team decisions: decide stand-up order, who reviews the next pull request, who takes notes, or who brings snacks — anywhere a group needs an unbiased choice.
  • What to eat: the classic. Load the restaurants or takeaway options near you, spin, and end the "I don't mind, you choose" loop once and for all.

Every spin uses at least six full rotations plus a random offset with a smooth ease-out curve, so results are unpredictable and never repeat the same landing pattern. You can shuffle entries, copy your list elsewhere, and watch a history of the last ten winners build up as you go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the wheel spinner actually random?

Yes. Each spin adds a fixed number of full rotations plus a uniformly random offset, so every entry has an equal chance of landing under the pointer. There is no weighting and no memory of previous winners.

How many entries can I add?

Up to 60. Extra lines beyond that are ignored so the wheel stays readable. Very long names are automatically truncated with an ellipsis on the wheel, while the full text is kept as the winner label.

Can I use it as a random name picker for my classroom?

Absolutely — it was designed for that. Paste one student name per line, enable "Remove winner after spin" and each spin guarantees a different student until the list is empty. Re-add names any time by editing the text box.

Does my list get uploaded anywhere?

No. The wheel, the animation and the winner selection all run locally in your browser with JavaScript and HTML canvas. Your entries never leave your device, and nothing is stored on a server.

Can I remove winners automatically after each spin?

Yes — tick "Remove winner after spin" before you spin. The winner is taken off the wheel (and out of the text box) so the next spin picks from the remaining entries. Untick it if you want the same options every time.
